Through in-depth research, Designit has worked towards discovering barriers that hinder cross-national e-commerce in the EU, and obstruct the single market.
Barriers such as a lack of a common set of rules, payment systems, or complaint handling systems are just some of the problems encountered in cross-national e-commerce in the EU. Designit has worked with The Ministry of Business and Growth to provide detailed insights into barriers encountered by both consumers and businesses in cross-national e-commerce.
The report has now been published, and is available to view – Cross-national e-commerce in the EU (in Danish). It aims to highlight the problems that exist within cross-national e-commerce, such as standards in safety, language, and procedures, so that they can be acted upon.
“The single market is Europe’s growth engine that will help us out of the economic crisis. We must bring the internal market into the digital era, and it must be easier and safer to shop online across EU borders. A properly functioning digital single market not only gives consumers access to a wider and cheaper range of goods, but also gives e-commerce firms the potential of a European market, rather than just the domestic market.” The Minister of Commerce and Growth, Ole Sohn.
