Jim Dawton, Partner at Designit London, has been invited on the steering committee of a Parliamentary inquiry being set up by the Associate Parliamentary Design and Innovation Group (APDIG). The inquiry will seek to innovate the British construction industry.
Imagine a school redesigned by apple or a window that can be left open, still leaving the building secure. These are some of the ideas close to the heart of the committee. Under the headline “how can we embed better and more innovative product design and manufacture in the construction of our built environment”, they will address the state of the construction industry, which, compared to other industries, is antiquated in terms of innovation.
Their work will focus on developing the industry into being as imaginative as other contemporary industries and thereby bring more comfort and groundbreaking design into the everyday lives of the British public.
With more than 20 years in the design business, Jim Dawton, who is already an advisor to the APDIG, has built a profound expertise in innovation and design thinking. With the other committee members representing policy, architecture, construction, engineering, and manufacture, the foundation is formed for the group to make groundbreaking yet feasible recommendations to Government and industry.
