With roughly 18,000 delegates and 70 exhibitors at Europe’s largest diabetes congress, giving people an events app just made sense to Novo Nordisk.
From 12-16 September, one of the world’s largest diabetes congresses hosted by The European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD), took place. Over 18,000 delegates passed through the doors. Novo Nordisk, a leading diabetes care company and a long-time partner of Designit, was present at the event where a huge number of scientific sessions and other events (even a 5km run arranged by Novo Nordisk) would be held over the weeklong meeting.
Novo Nordisk themselves hosted numerous events over the week and from experience they know that many delegates have a hard time keeping track of all the things going on at the congress. The answer? A Novo Nordisk events app.

Novo Nordisk was the only diabetes care company to have an events app, which proved to be hugely successful – not to mention useful.

It was a great way for us to interact with our customers and highlight all the areas Novo Nordisk had presence at the congress. The app presented all the Novo Nordisk-related highlights and events including scientific sessions.
Through the app, the user was able to add events to their calendar, scan QR codes (to interact with Novo Nordisk’s booth), access scientific abstracts, add content to a list of favourites, and set up event notifications. It also allowed users to play a game at the Novo Nordisk booth by using the app as a game controller. A simple catching game, it was very popular, and quite an attention-getter!

The app is easily updated through an online events manager Designit specially created for the Novo Nordisk events app. The updated content could simply be pulled from a web server to the app, thereby ensuring that any changes in the content would be immediately visible on the app.
Novo Nordisk will use the events app for future diabetes congresses. All they have to do is change the content through the events manager.
The app is solely for informative purposes, is free, and does not require any registration.
